B.A.T.S.
Bird Awareness & Toy Safety
This project was brainstormed by Molly. Her Girl Scout sisters; Emma, Haley, and Lorelei were eager to join the endeavor with her. Molly has served many volunteer hours at E.A.S.T. (Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee) in Nashville, Tennessee and briefed her sisters in the perils of the exotic bird trade and the dangers of improper care of these beautiful creatures.
Parakeet
Molly worked tirelessly researching the needs of the Parakeet. She found great resources and created a tri fold informational pamphlet, that is available to the public as a FREE download. It includes all the information you need to be a responsible owner of a Parakeet. We strongly suggest you read the information entirely before considering the adoption of a parakeet. It will give you the information you need to decide if a Parakeet is a good fit for you and it will prepare you to be an excellent caretaker and owner. If a Parakeet isn't right for you then read on to some of the other informational pamphlets. Click the button below for your FREE Downloadable tri fold informational pamphlet.
Finch
Emma conducted a search for information from some reliable websites about the care, nutritional requirements, social preferences, and environmental needs of the Finch. She found loads of information that she compiled into a tri fold informational pamphlet. It has everything you need to prepare to care for a Finch. We encourage you to read this information before you consider adopting a Finch. Doing so will help you to make an educated decision on if a Finch is best for your lifestyle and home,  if another breed is better suited, or perhaps if a bird is not a good fit for you. Whatever you decide, using these free resources will aid you in making an informed decision and properly preparing your home for your new arrival. Click the button below for your FREE Downloadable tri fold informational pamphlet.
Canary
Haley will tell us all about canaries when she completes her research.
Cockatiel
Lorelei will tell us all about Cockatiels as soon as she has finished her research.
Exotic Bird Trade
Our Cadettes are dedicated to protecting those that cannot protect themselves. So we are raising awareness to the atrocities that occur in the illegal exotic bird trades. This photo is an example of one of the cruel methods implored by smugglers attempting to get exotic birds past customs. This is a 20 oz water bottle stuffed with an endangered Yellow Crested Cockatoo from Indonesia. There were many like this found and they can barely breath in those containers. Thank goodness the authorities found and rescued them.
